ABOUT ME
Currently, I am based in Lander, WY, but my work has taken me all over the globe. My experience ranges from twenty plus years of riding horses, packing mules, training stock, restarting rescues, and learning from some of the world’s preeminent natural horsemanship trainers. I have packed horses and mules in the U.S. through the Eastern Sierras and the Wind River Range in the Rockies and across the Australian High Country. I have studied with respected trainers across the U.S. and Australia and have been able to observe and compare many different horsemanship methods, slowly finding an approach and language that works best for me.
Pulling from the traditions of Vaquero horsemanship and the ideas that form the base of natural horsemanship I aim to build a foundation in each horse that will create confidence and relaxation. I focus on working with the horse by building communication that will allow the horse to work with understanding which will promote softness and willingness. I believe that starting horses, at any age, should be based in patience and embracing the individuality of each horse will lead to a solid partnership.
As with many endeavors, however, there is no end to what I can learn about working with horses. I have years of experience behind me, but many, many more years of discovery ahead. The process of developing trust and a common language with horses and mules requires patience, humility, and confidence, and I have only just begun to find those qualities in equal balance.
